GRAYMOOR FRIARY
Graymoor Friary is located on a beautiful hillside with an existing, hilltop chapel and an administrative building and spiritual centerat the foot of the hill.An extensive, 5-story friary and retreat center totaling 25,000 square feet linked all the buildings. Fox Blocks was used to support the Friary’s 200-year life expectancy for the facility.

The designer, Alfandre Architecture, New Platz, New York, became familiar with Fox Blocks while designing and building their own LEED Platinum office building. For the Friars, who were looking for a building with low operational costs, energy efficiency and high durability, the use of ICFs perfectly met their goals.

Fox Blocks construction time was 80 days on a 300 day project. The Fox Blocks construction was 30% less compared to reinforced masonry that was insulated and furred out. Construction cost was 20% less than this traditional method.
