KAYDEN'S PLACE
Building around a retaining wall created difficulty in ensuring precise wall heights in a natural and organic look. Wall height was important to allow the stairs and pool slide to flow through the structural elements seamlessly. ICF simplified this process with the ability to easily cut down each block to precise heights, where needed, and create very rough cuts, where a sculpted, natural look was desired, allowing for precise attention to detail and design.
All of the unique design features added had to allow for continuous concrete, ensuring all water features were water-tight. Fox Blocks ICF construction is the best choice for landscape projects, such as this, because of their ability to adapt to the shape of the terrain and provide a structural base to work from.
The use of ICF in Kayden’s backyard oasis was critical in achieving the sustainable goals of the project. ICF was desired for its ability to adapt to be cut to the shape of the landscape as well as the EPS insulations’ ability to be used as a substrate for the vertical concrete covering. The project further promoted sustainability by utilizing LED lighting, which is much more efficient than other bulb sources.
