MAYURA MANOR
The top priority in designing Mayura Manor was creating a precise and functional layout, while meeting the client’s desired aesthetic. The architectural design of the award-winning home was extremely complex, causing challenges when aligning the client’s needs to the city’s building codes, all with a firm deadline for the Parade of Homes. The original design did not align with the City of Winter Park’s land-development code, but the ability to quickly cut down and resize Fox Blocks, without losing precision, simplified this tedious re-design. Alongside the home, casita, and garage structures, a courtyard pool was added. Fox Blocks made it possible to build a pool in the limited space.
Mayura Manor is extremely energy efficient with ICF construction that provides a controlled indoor environment, a roof-mounted solar PV system bringing natural power to the home, LED light fixtures and two 80-gallon hybrid electric water heaters operating from solar-produced electricity.
Mayura Manor received the highest rating of Florida Green Building Coaliton’s Platinum certification and scored a negative 22 on the HERS Rating Index, which rates projected energy consumption using a scale of 100 to 0 with zero equaling a “net zero” home.
