Sus­tain­abil­i­ty is rapid­ly gain­ing momen­tum on a glob­al scale. But meet­ing mod­ern sus­tain­abil­i­ty require­ments presents a chal­lenge to con­struc­tion com­pa­nies and build­ing own­ers alike.

This high-end, mul­ti-build­ing, retail plaza was the first of its kind in the world of ICF con­struc­tion.

The project is a key fea­ture and gath­er­ing place in a small city that is plan­ning sub­stan­tial city-wide rede­vel­op­ment. The new 11-screen the­ater is a focal point of this effort and has intro­duced the region to ICF and the ben­e­fits of build­ing with this method.

Prod­ucts are not rat­ed or cer­ti­fied under the LEED pro­gram. The over­all build­ing is eval­u­at­ed and assigned a LEED rat­ing. In the selec­tion of build­ing mate­ri­als for a LEED design, Fox Blocks have many ben­e­fits that can enable, enhance or direct­ly con­tribute toward LEED points for the project.

Research by Texas Tech Wind Sci­ence and Engi­neer­ing Research Cen­ter has demon­strat­ed that ICF walls bet­ter pro­tect occu­pants of hous­es from wind­blown debris, than frame walls. Being hit by wind­blown debris is the most com­mon cause of injury dur­ing tor­na­does.

Lantern Hall won the Com­mon­wealth Award from the Vir­ginia Chap­ter of the Amer­i­can Con­crete Insti­tute.
