For gen­er­a­tions, the con­struc­tion of exte­ri­or walls has fol­lowed tra­di­tion­al prac­tices that have pri­mar­i­ly involved wood or steel fram­ing. These meth­ods have been the back­bone of res­i­den­tial and light com­mer­cial con­struc­tion, by pro­vid­ing shel­ter, sta­bil­i­ty, and a cer­tain lev­el of insu­la­tion.

An ICF home, like one built with Fox Blocks, pro­vides many of the essen­tial fea­tures that today’s home­own­er is look­ing for: excel­lent indoor envi­ron­men­tal qual­i­ty (IEQ), ener­gy-effi­cien­cy, and dis­as­ter-resis­tance.

This mas­sive home, an incred­i­ble mix of tra­di­tion­al styling and mod­ern tech­nol­o­gy, includes hand-carved mar­ble man­tles, a 1,500-bottle brick wine cel­lar, five wood-burn­ing fire­places, a real stone bar with a 4” thick wal­nut book­end bar­top, and a cus­tom pyra­mid sky­light in the roof above the mas­ter bed­room.

This mixed use project includes offices and drop off facil­i­ties for waste and recy­cling.

Test reports con­duct­ed by the Nation­al Research Coun­cil state: ​“The max­i­mum tox­i­c­i­ty index obtained from the com­bus­tion of poly­styrene was of the same order as that of wood.” Fox Blocks ICFs have been test­ed to meet build­ing code require­ments for flame spread rat­ings, smoke devel­op­ment and tox­i­c­i­ty

This unique air hangar is the first of its kind in terms of ICF appli­ca­tions. The design of this build­ing was not intend­ed to stand out, but to con­form and fit its envi­ron­ment. With beau­ti­ful wood and stonework exte­ri­or fin­ish­es and the steep rake of the roof down to the embank­ment in which the hangar is nes­tled, the build­ing ele­gant­ly blends into the beau­ti­ful Ida­ho sur­round­ings with­out being obtru­sive.

A slow­down at the lum­ber mills due to the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic, com­bined with oth­er fac­tors, has led to lum­ber short­ages and sky­rock­et­ing prices.
