This build­ing is one of the first to offer afford­able hous­ing for both adults on the autism spec­trum and for those who are not on the spec­trum.

Locat­ed in the his­toric Ybor City his­tor­i­cal dis­trict of Tam­pa, the Arturo Fuente Cig­ar Ware­house is a ​“15,000 square foot humi­dor.”

After los­ing their home to a fire in 2017, the project own­ers aimed to build a replace­ment that was sim­i­lar in design but stronger and more fire-resis­tant. The fire had exten­sive­ly dam­aged the site, which neces­si­tat­ed a com­plete demo­li­tion of the old struc­ture, includ­ing the for­mer base­ment, pri­or to the con­struc­tion of the new ICF home.

The con­trac­tor need­ed a build­ing solu­tion that would pro­vide a sus­tain­able devel­op­ment that would stim­u­late the local econ­o­my and pre­serve the his­toric feel of the com­mu­ni­ty. In addi­tion to the envi­ron­men­tal con­sid­er­a­tions, the com­mit­ment to pri­vate, ener­gy effi­cient units was a sell­ing point of build­ing with Fox Blocks ICF.

Unit­ed States (U.S.) stu­dent hous­ing con­struc­tion projects are expe­ri­enc­ing rapid growth, with invest­ments in stu­dent hous­ing reach­ing $9.8 bil­lion in 2016 and $8 bil­lion in 2017.

The project is a key fea­ture and gath­er­ing place in a small city that is plan­ning sub­stan­tial city-wide rede­vel­op­ment. The new 11-screen the­ater is a focal point of this effort and has intro­duced the region to ICF and the ben­e­fits of build­ing with this method.
